Princess Royal Hospital Visualization Project

‘Mark Faulkner was recommended to me for our computer graphics visualisation project by Prof. Phillips (Department of Computer Science at the University of Hull). The project entailed taking scan data from a 3D Laser scanning system to create 3D models of the internal and external aspects of our hospital. The purpose was to create a virtual tour for prospective patients and to help reduce their anxiety by familiarising them with the department before they arrive for what is typically a very stressful consultation. For this reason we required a very high quality of work and we are extremely happy with the results. The prototype models were used in pilot studies and patients were very appreciative to have the virtual tour and get a sense of the scale and appearance of the treatment machines. This is certainly reflective of the quality of the modelling performed by Mark’.

Valley of the First Iron Masters

‘Mark was the graphics officer in the award winning Valley of the First Iron Masters website project. His role was to create the overall "look" of the website and produce reconstructions of site and artefacts. The reconstructions included 3D animated flythroughs of buildings and landscapes and smaller structures such as pottery kilns and furniture. Whatever the graphic it was constructed with great care, accuracy and realism, with particular attention being paid to the use of realistic textures. All who have seen Mark's work at conferences or in printed from have commented favourably on it  - to judge for yourself log on to www.ironmasters.hull.ac.uk
